HD has dabbled in drawing and watercolour painting since he was a little kid, including studying at the Edmonton Art Gallery (replaced by the Art Gallery of Alberta).
When he moved to the Kootenays in 1995 he accidentally became a blacksmith. After meeting his love and inspiration in 2006 she introduced him to acrylic painting as well as linocut print making. As well Dan is heavily influenced by Ted Wallace, amazing artist and teacher who’s intuitive art techniques inform a lot of Dan’s work, especially the pen and ink work.
